VO2 Max Testing

The VO2 max test is considered the gold-standard measure of your fitness level. It is a functional test that measures the maximum amount of oxygen that your body can utilize when undergoing strenuous exercise. Numerous large population studies have shown that the VO2 max score predicts all-cause mortality better than traditional markers such as smoking, hypertension, and even a diagnosis of heart disease or diabetes.

Optimize Your Fitness: Personalized VO2 Max Testing at Valley Healthspan

At Valley Healthspan, we offer direct VO2 max testing using a bicycle ergometer (a stationary exercise bike) with the Korr CardioCoach®. After a 10 minute warm-up on the bicycle, the workload is gradually increased until maximal exertion is reached, after which the patient completes a 3-5 minute cool-down period. The test typically takes 20-25 minutes total.

The CardioCoach® uses Anaerobic Threshold and VO2 Max results to define workouts zones unique to each patients. These results can be uploaded to the CardioCoach® app to guide you through workouts for cardio-strengthening, endurance, weight loss or other goals custom designed for you.
